All WVA Committees are run by volunteers and are integral to the operations of the Association. Some have separate webpages with more information. The committees that have their own webpages are linked at the bottom of each committee section as well as below.

Please Note: The County of Hawaii has a program called the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).  Any volunteer who is 55 or older, and is a part of this program, receives credit for their hours and a luncheon is held annually for those who volunteer 12 hours or more. Committee volunteer hours count towards RSVP.  Read More About RSVP

Environmental Control Committee (ECC)

Are you thinking of building your home in the Village or making changes to your current home and not sure where to begin? New Home Construction and most exterior property improvements, need to go through the Environmental Control Committee (ECC) for approval.

Greens

The Greens Committee advises the Board of Directors, The Association and Village Course Staff on ways to improve the quality and operation of the golf course. They also provides contributions to the design and layout of the course for the benefit of the Village. The Greens Committee works to the benefit of all WVA Members and Village Course patrons alike.
 
The Greens Committee conducts monthly reviews of the maintenance and operations of the golf course, facilities, member and golfer comments and suggestions for improvements and make monthly written reports and/or recommendations to the Board of Directors. These reports and/or recommendations are acted upon by the Board of Directors.
 

Fiscal Committee

The Fiscal Committee is responsible for monitoring and reporting on expenditures of the approved budget, and supervising preparation of the budget for next year. Subject to the approval of the Board, the Committee monitors all of the obligations and duties of the Association with respect to fiscal matters, and presents the financial position of the Association to the members.
 

Nominations and Elections Committee

The Nominations and Elections Committee works with WVA Staff to coordinate and execute thethe election of the Board of Directors at the WVA Annual Meeting. They are active for approximately half the year (November - April). Tasks may include but are not limited to:
 
  • Draft Public Notices regarding the Annual Meeting
  • Receive member Self-Nominations
  • Work with the WVA Office Staff to plan and publish the WVA Annual Meeting Voter's Packet
  • Coordinate at least one Candidates' Night for candidates to present their views to the membership 
  • Review and authenticate received proxies and ballots.

Firewise Committee

WVA Firewise Committee provides education, leadership and direction to help WVA Members adapt to living with wildfire risks, and to encourage all neighbors in the community to work together and take action to prevent losses.

Stables Committee

The Stables Committee provides advice to the Board of Directors on effectively utilizing the Waikōloa Stables to benefit the WVA Members. Tasks may include but are not limited to:
 
  • Evaluate current use of the Stables
  • Review financial, management, administrative and maintenance operations
  • Understanding WVA Member and community needs
  • Advising the Board of Directors on how to best utilize the facilities
 

Covenants and Bylaws Amendment Committee

The Covenants and Bylaws Amendment Committee works with the Board to create a proposed updated, modernized version of the Declaration of Protective Covenants (DOPC/CC&R's). The Committee also proposes Bylaws updates that are needed to complement the updated Declaration or other Bylaws updates identified by the Committee.
 

Community Outreach Committee

The Community Outreach Committee was initially formed as an advocacy group for the Bylaws & Covenant changes. A dedicated group for educating the Membership about the changes to the Bylaws & Covenants. It has since added the goal of increasing voter turnout and education when it comes to the Annual Meeting.
